I just got my squad in the mail.

From my initial inspection the sniper had a lot of flash. Nothing that couldn't be remove easily nor damaged any of the details on the mini. The others had some flash but nothing big. Only one of the six had a noticeable mold line, one of the assault troopers. I should be able to file it down without damaging the mini's details.

The only negative thing I can say about them is the need to pin the hands. This is something I have a hard time doing right. I wish they had a post like the backpack did. It would make for much easier assembling.

They are slightly beefier then infinity's minis which I like. I'm not a good detail painter so I tend to prefer larger models like CAVs and Lupines from Warlord. Tom Mason did a great job of sculpting them. So far I'm happy with them.

As much as I love the yellow and black paint scheme of the Yellow Jackets I'm not comfortable doing detailed minis in Yellow. So I'm gonna go with Black armor plates and Ultramarine blue jumpsuit. I'll start with the leader first. He seems like he'll be the easist to paint and if need be to strip if I screw up Roll Eyes. I haven't been this excited about paint a mini in a long time. I'm alredy thinking up fluff for my Roughriders.

I got my first squad painted. I really enjoyed painting these and will definately get more as soon as I get my income tax money.  As soon as the sun comes out of hiding I'll take a better picture but until then...

Good stuff SOS. The UM Blue actually works really well with the minis.
The edging on the armor really makes it "pop".
Looking forward to seeing more pics.
Maybe some close-ups?

... man I wish I had more time to paint. I need to get my squad finished so I can start on the KV, once they are released.

Very nice job Saint of Sinners.

. . . man I wish I could paint period. I suck at it, AND I'm color blind. Last year at GENCON I was in a painting class. I thought I was adding a nice highlight to the CCC Leader; the instructor came over and said, "oh, you decided to change color".   Embarrassed

Hopefully by next week I'll get some more pics taken. All six minis only took me a week to paint which for me is incredible fast. I normally paint mechs so these were a challenge for me but I found them to be very easy and enjoyable to paint. Definately looking forward to painting more.

Good stuff SOS.
If I can be so bold as to make a minor suggestion(s):
1. A bit of blue is showing through on some of the bases. Maybe a quick touch up of green or a bit more flocking?
2. Under the foot of the Sniper is a rock. Perhaps a bit of grey or brown paint would make it stand out from his foot.

Please take this as constructive, as it is not meant to be anything but.
Can't wait to see what you do for the KemVar.

Actually I got carried way with the grass frock. You can just barely see their blue shoes and I covered up the Sniper's rock with the frock. Now the blue smear on the Heavy's base, yeah... I didn't notice it until after I took the picture Tongue

I got a KemVar trooper coming along with another CCC heavy and assault. Unfortunately, I'll have to wait until I get my tax returns to get the full squads. I'm planning on trying to do the Yellow Jackets in yellow and black.

Thanks for the critique

TBH, I will often times "bury" the feet a little in my flocking. Unless I am using a street type design for the base, I figure that in the real world, a persons feet sink in to sand/ grass/ rubble a bit when they are walking across it. So why not refelct that when basing a mini. Not everybody can walk across water or float above stones, so why should my minis be any different.

Any ways, good stuff. Keep 'em coming. I really need to sit down and do some painting. Then you guys will be able to see that my 15+ years of painting minis has raised me to the ability of a 3 year old using oil paints for the very first time.  Grin

Maybe I can con Angel G into painting my minis (for free)....
